OIL COOLED PISTON

While heat energy is converted into mechanical energy in motors, not all of the heat energy can be converted to power. During the combustion strokes and cycles that follow each other, a very high temperature arises. As a result of the measurements, it has been observed that this temperature varies between 2000 °C - 2500 °C. However, such a high temperature occurs in a very short time. Because the heat conductivity of the parts and the temperature of the mixture entering the cylinders are low, it drops to 600 °C-900 °C. However, engine parts cannot withstand this temperature. Some of this temperature that occurs in the engine is emitted with exhaust gases and some of it is removed from the engine by friction. On average, up to 30% heat turns into useful work. The purpose of the cooling system is to keep the engine at the temperature where it can operate most efficiently, in all operating conditions and at all engine speeds. Therefore, oil cooling method is used to protect the pistons inside the engine from this temperature during operation.
